High Efficiency and High Power Density Interleaved DC-DC Converter for Electric Vehicles

Electric vehicle is a hot topic because it releases less pollution to the environment and it saves fossil fuels. Considered the difficulty of establishing infrastructure for charging, on-board charger is widely used in electric vehicles and is asking for higher efficiency and higher power density. To reach high efficiency and high power density, a three-phase interleaved DC-DC converter is presented for the control system. An iteration method is developed to design the switching frequency and inductance in order to obtain a optimized efficiency and power density. Finally, simulations are conducted to validate the efficiency of the design.
