High Performance Vector Control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Fed by Direct SVM Matrix Converter

The present work describes a vector control of permanent magnet synchronous motor fed by a matrix converter to achieve a high performance and to preserve the robustness with respect to desired dynamic behaviors. In this context, the direct space vector modulation strategy has been adopted for the control of the matrix converter. In order to minimize the harmonic rate injected by the drive system into the grid, a damped RLC input filter was placed upstream with the matrix converter. Moreover, the transfer function that describes the topology and the optimized parameter selection approach of the proposed input filter are also introduced. The robustness of the proposed drive system with respect to parameter variations and imposed reference trajectories was tested and proven by a simulation study.
