Split Ring Loaded Dual-polarized Dielectric Resonator Antennas

In this paper, dual-polarized dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs) with split rings are proposed and investigated. The antennas are designed to operate at the center frequency of 1.25 GHz. The effect of the DRA length to height ratio on cross-polarization is studied. The validity of two cross-polarization reduction techniques, i.e. short probe-stripline differential feeding and SRR gap width reduction, are verified. A bandwidth of 76.6 MHz and below -25 dB cross-polarizations are achieved from an antenna with electrical dimensions of 0.122λ * 0.054λ * 0. 001λ for X-polarization and 0.137λ * 0.046λ * 0.001λ for Y-polarization.
