Situational awareness for dynamic power system based on UKF-driven residual matrix analysis

An architecture based on UKF-driven residual matrix analysis is proposed to achieve the situational awareness for dynamic power system in this paper. Firstly, multi-node voltage state estimation of the dynamic power system is achieved by a centralized adaptive UKF in which time-varying noise can be effectively evaluated. Therefore, the spatial-temporal relationship among grid nodes under normal conditions is eliminated and the associated random characteristics is enhanced. On this basis, the effect of abnormal condition can be reflected by the entries of moving-windowed voltage residual matrix, and the associated eigenvalue distribution characteristics will be changed. Furthermore, a situational indicator based on residual covariance transform is proposed to quantify the effect of the abnormal condition, and its awareness performance is derived. Finally, the proposed method is validated based on IEEE-30 bus test case, which shows its applicability to assist with the enhancement of power system reliability.
