Measurements of the SKA Band 2 radio astronomy receiver

The mid-frequency array of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) radio interferometer consists of shaped offset Gregorian reflector antennas [1]. Each reflector system has a set of quasi-octave and wideband receivers that collimate a single boresight receive beam per reflector antenna [2]. As these receivers have non-standard interfaces and because commercial equipment is typically not capable of measuring the extremely highperformance requirements of the receiver, specialized test equipment needs to be developed to characterize and verify the performance of these receivers.
