Performance improvement of PDD2 compensator embedded in position control for pneumatic stage

This paper deals with the high-speed positioning for a pneumatic stage. In the position control system for its stage, slow pressure response due to air compressibility causes low-speed positioning. To drive the pneumatic stage at high-speed, this paper proposes to modify the structure of PDD

(proportional+ derivative + second derivative) compensator. PDD
²
compensator has been widely used thanks to high versatility and control performance. However, in previous research, PDD
²
compensators are rarely discussed from the viewpoint of fast response. Therefore, in this paper, to achieve high-speed positioning, improvement of performance and consideration of implementation are carried out for PDD
²
compensator. As a result, the effectiveness of proposed method is verified experimentally.
