Application of Variogram in Quantitative Characterization of Channel Sand Body Spatial Distribution

This paper introduces the basic concept, theoretical model and parameter meaning of experimental variogram, which is a basic tool of geostatistics. From the two aspects of singular value and influence of mixed distribution, the influencing factors of reservoir geological characteristics in the process of experimental variogram calculation and the corresponding solutions, as well as the fitting method of experimental variogram and theoretical model are analyzed. By fitting the spherical variogram of the channel sand body in a dense well pattern, it is shown that the variogram can be used for quantitative analysis and prediction of the spatial distribution characteristics of channel sand body, which provides a basis for future sand body description and sedimentary microfacies research.
