Advanced Radar Micro-Doppler Simulation Environment for Human Motion Applications

Radar sensors in situations including humans as targets are becoming more spread in many applications such as automotive, military, and health care. Having a simulation environment that has a high accuracy as well as efficient processing is getting to be a necessity nowadays. It allows the analysis of various scenarios and testing the radar parameters before manufacturing such a radar sensor. It also helps in generating data to be first tested on the different machine learning and deep learning algorithms. In this paper, a simulation technique is presented that combines the above mentioned qualities of accuracy and efficiency. The technique is highly suitable for simulating and representing human motion. It takes into account the shadowing effects and the Radar Cross Section (RCS) information of the human body parts. Measurements are also presented to support the discussed simulation technique.
