Research on PSO-Fuzzy Algorithm Optimized Control for Multi-area AGC System with DFIG Wind Turbine

With the large-scale doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) wind turbines integrated into the power system, DFIG wind turbines have a more and more important impact on the power system frequency. The demand of frequency regulation in power system is increasing because of penetration of wind power, as a result, it is of great significance to study the automatic generation control (AGC) optimal control of multi-area interconnected power systems with DFIG wind turbines. The multi-area frequency regulation equivalent model, which is belonged to AGC system with DFIG wind turbine, are established in this paper. The DFIG wind turbine can actively take part in area frequency control on AGC system and improve the performance of area frequency regulation when the system load occurred disturbance by this model. However, the model also increased the complexity of the AGC controller, so the proposed PSO-fuzzy algorithm is used to optimize the parameters of fuzzy-PI controller of AGC. Simulation results show that DFIG wind turbine actively take part in AGC and improve the performance of area frequency control to overcome disturbance of load. The controller optimized by PSO-fuzzy algorithm is able to improve area frequency deviation, the change of tie-line power, stabilization time and the fluctuation amplitude of frequency, which enhance the stability of power system.
