Performance Analysis of Indoor VLC System under Different System Configuration

Visible light communication (VLC) is an emerging area of research. Recently space modulation has been proposed for transmitting data using visible light. This paper investigates two types of space modulation scheme namely Space Shift Keying (SSK) and Spatial Modulation (SM). Analysis has been done using the combination of SM and Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM). To analyze the difference in the two schemes they have been compared on the basis of their Symbol Error Rates (SER). Along with this different system configurations of LEDs are also investigated keeping the number of bits to be transmitted constant. Thus, for a fixed number of LEDs the system configuration which gives the best SER performance has been identified.
