Controller Deployment in SDN-Enabled Redundant Structure with Considering Network Reliability

The SDN controller deployment influences the communication network reliability directly. In this paper, the architecture of the controller cluster is proposed, and the network reliability and network performance index are analyzed. Based on the network reliability, the controller deployment optimization model is proposed. The proposed cluster-based controller deployment algorithm, greedy-based controller deployment algorithm and random controller-based deployment algorithm are used to solve the mathematical model and obtain the average failure of the network. The final simulation results show that the cluster-based controller deployment algorithm is better than the other two algorithms in improving the reliability of communication networks.
