e-Governance for India’s Development: A Review

An endeavor is made to understand the development towards digitizing government services via electronic means in India through e-Governance. In the beginning, the article elaborates the historic viewpoints and narrates the progress of e-Governance in India right from the time the Department of Electronics (DoE) was established, in the year 1970. Later, the article covers detailed walk-through about the numerous initiatives driven by the Government of India over the past many years along with their missions and objectives. Strategies are discussed to successfully implement e-Governance in India to redefine and restructure outdated, bungling processes and procedures by taking advantage of the modern Information and Communication Technology in order to provide citizen-centric service delivery which is hassle-free and fast.
