Dynamic State of Starting for a High-Power Asynchronous Motor Used for Driving a Surface Mining Excavator

The research we carried out is justified by the fact that the present technical and economic context needs an interference between the asynchronous motor design, afferent to the steady-state conditions and its dynamic behaviour. Carrying out some performant electrical drives, with asynchronous motors, in steady-state conditions and in dynamic state, requires a preliminary knowing of the motor response. The analysis has been carried out with a high-power asynchronous motor, which drives the bucket-holder wheel of a surface mining excavator. The high inertia moment causes a long starting, with voltage drops and losses in the supply wire. The duration of the no-load starting, tp=1.36s (in load tp=4.2s) and the afferent current shock, Ip=3.12*In have been exactly established by the research. The simulations carried out provide useful quantitative and qualitative information, in order to establish the optimum constructive solution for steady-state conditions and dynamic state. The paper might be a theoretical and practical support, based on using advanced numerical methods and the afferent software.
