Experimental Study on the Mitigation of Photodarkening in Yb-Doped Fibers by Li Co-Doping

We experimentally demonstrated that Li
⁺
ions doping into Yb-doped fiber is beneficial to mitigate the photodarkening-induced excess loss. The mechanism of alkali metal elements Li and Na co-doping to mitigate the PD effect is discussed.
