Sliding Mode Control Based 2Nx Interleaved Boost Converter for Solar PV Applications

This paper presents sliding mode control based 2Nx IBC (Interleaved Boost Converter) for solar PV applications. The new SMC 2Nx IBC technique is derived from SMC based Nx Multilevel Boost Converter (Nx MBC). The nonconventional renewable energy sources can be made more reliable by boosting the generated voltage to the required voltage level by using high gain DC-DC. The presented converter has various advantages such as less ripples, large voltage conversion ratio, low voltage stress, non-inverting output voltage with smaller duty cycle, coupled inductors and transformer. Increase in voltage gain without changing the circuit by just inserting capacitor and diode into circuitry the key feature of proposed converter. The performance of proposed converter is verified by using simulation results from MATLAB/SIMULATION.
