Development and Implementation of a Test Set for Quality Assurance of IEC 61850-based Ethernet Switches in Manufacturing Process

New substations are being constructed by using the IEC61850 standard concept. In this environment Ethernet communication requires IEC 61850-based Ethernet switches. These devices became a critical point of the hole system. Provide reliability for the products manufactured is imperative to keep the reliability of the substation protection system. This paper describes the use of an automatic test set to enhance the quality assurance process during the production of IEC 61850 Ethernet switches manufactured in the GE/Reason facilities. This project was developed by IFSC (Federal Institute of Santa Catarina) in a partnership with GE/Reason.
