Comparison of analytical method of flux density prediction for COB and discrete LED luminaires

This work presents a comparison of analytical and empirical Yield Photon Flux Density (YPFD) ascertainment concerning two LED (light-emitting diode) luminaire models aiming to address the accuracy attained when based on punctual and discrete lamps adopted in plant growth. Moreover, this paper highlights the YPFD efficacy of each luminaire, by reviewing the phytometric concepts in comparison with generic quantic, photometric and typical radiometric systems. The luminaires studied in this paper include a high-flux COB (chip-on-board) cool white LED lamp and a Red and Blue discrete-LED-based luminaire, which is designed and prototyped in laboratory specifically for plant growth.
