Evaluation of Latest Photovoltaics Technologies Applied to Telecommunication Systems Operating in Shaded Environments

Photovoltaic (PV) systems which are subjected to partial or full shading have reduced output power compared to the actual power rating of unshaded systems. Full shading can occur as a result of reduction in irradiance due to cloud cover while partial shading occurs due to nearby objects such as telecommunication antennas. This paper presents a comparative analysis on the performance characteristics of two different PV technologies in shaded environments.
