Experimental Demonstration and System Evaluation of OAM-like Spatial Diveristy from Two Linear Antenna Arrays

Orbital angular momentum (OAM) multiplexing at radio has been proven as one of the multiple-in-multiple-out (MIMO) solution without further signal processing. In this paper, we show that at least 3-element uniform circular array (UCA) can be used to transmit/receive beams carrying OAM. Even though the 2-element phased array cannot be used to generate beams carrying OAM, it can be used to transmit/receive two beams carrying different phase patterns. In our digital communication test, using the proposed two linear antenna arrays we can transmit different digital data without further signal processing just like the OAM multiplexing does.
