A Wideband Antenna for Buried RFID Applications

This paper presents a wide-band bow-tie antenna for underground buried RFID application. A narrowband antenna is not suitable for proper functioning of buried RFID tag as the soil can alter the resonance frequency under typical conditions. The bow-tie antenna was designed to be compatible with the commercial RFID IC Alien H-3. Design and simulation results are presented for the development of the tag.
