An Adaptive Optics System for Partially Blocked Optical Path in Wireless Laser Communication

This article reports an adaptive optics system to improve the output energy of laser beams. The system can correct the wave front distortion even when the light path is partially blocked. In this study, a method to prevent the system cracking due do light path blocking is introduced. A model of adaptive optics system is built based on the random input and output signals. In addition, a controller is designed based on the model. In the experiment, the beam information is acquired using a device wave front sensor: control signals are calculated using the beam information and the controller, the beam is supervised by a far-field CCD camera. Closed-loop control results show that the system can correct the wavefront aberration, and the laser beam can thus get more convergent and higher in energy in case the light path is partially blocked.
