The Analysis of the Practice of Using of High-Voltage Frequency Converters ACS5000

The article gives an analysis of the use in real production conditions of the high-voltage ACS5000 frequency converter from ABB. The circuit of the power part of the frequency converter is considered, the operation principle of the inverter of the frequency converter is described in detail, the approximated form of the output voltage curve of the frequency converter is shown, and the graphs of the output currents of the frequency converter are obtained using the parameter recorder. A distinctive feature of the protection system of the frequency converter is noted and examples of its failure in production conditions are given. The quality of electricity was monitored in accordance with the requirements of GOST 32144. A conclusion was made about the inconsistency of the quality of electricity with the requirements of GOST 32144 when using the ACS5000 frequency converter. But it is also noted that the distortion of the supply network is not as significant as when using other similar frequency converters.
