Optimal capacity configuration for power to gas facilities in a wind farm: a bi-level programming

This paper constructs a bi-level optimal programming model for the configuration of the capacity of the P2G facilities. In this bi-level optimal configuration programming model, the wind power enterprises, which act as the investment subject of the P2G facilities, are situated in the upper level. The decision-making variable of this upper level is the construction capacity of the P2G facilities in order to achieving the maximum benefits of the wind power enterprises. In terms of the electric-gas interconnected system which is situated in the lower level, three decision-making variables are involved, i.e., the power output of the generator unit, the gas source and the P2G facilities. Furthermore, the goal of the lower level is to achieve the pursuit of the minimum operating cost of the system. In order to improve the astringency and reduce the time consumed to solve out the model, a hybrid intelligent algorithm based on the combination of the catastrophic genetic algorithm and the internal point method is proposed. Further, this paper makes use of a simulation system combined with a modified IEEE 39-bus system and a Belgium 20-node natural gas system to analyze the impact on the operation of system caused by the adoption of the optimal configuration of the P2G facilities. And how the optimal configuration affects the operation of the system is also illustrated.
