Board Characteristics and Firm Performance: Evidence from 65 Media Listed Companies in China

This paper selects 65 media listed companies as the research object, using SPSS to analyze the effect of board characteristics on firm performance. The characteristics are as follows: the number of committees, the proportion of independent directors with relevant background, the number of board meetings, the size of the board, the proportion of female directors and the structure of leadership. Specific conclusions are as follows: the number of committees has a positive impact on firm performance; the proportion of independent directors with relevant background has a positive impact on the firm performance; finally, the number of board meetings are uncorrelated with firm performance, as well as the size of the board of directors, the proportion of female directors and the structure of leadership.
