Energy Efficient Routing Using Residual Energy and Stability in Mobile Ad-Hoc Network

Mobile ad hoc network is infrastructure less and nodes are mobile. Some middle nodes should take part in sending the data packets. In routing algorithms, routes are formed based on the shortest distance. However, those protocols do not consider energy while choosing the route. Shortest route algorithm may additionally result in a quick depletion of the battery. In MANETs, nodes have restricted battery. If the battery power has gone, then the node dies out. Developing energy conscious routing protocol has received good attention now a day. Design goal of energy conscious protocols is to choose energy proficient routes. In reactive routing protocol, path is established whenever required. We have presented many existing methods to make routing algorithm energy efficient. We have proposed a method that is based on residual energy of a node and stability of the link. Simulation results show that using our proposed method, network lifetime is significantly increased.
