Analyzing Jobs-Housing Spatial Relationship Based on Floating Car Data

In recent years, the increasingly fast urbanization process has led to the separation of jobs and residence locations in many cities which caused heavy traffic and air pollution. Various kinds of data are applied to analyze jobs-housing balance. This paper studied jobs-housing spatial relationship using floating car data by means of data mining in space grid scale and district scale. The results of clustering of floating car data were used to get the distribution of employment area and residential area in grid scale. The distribution of commuting distance and commuting time in both scales and the separation of job and residential place indicators in different district revealed the jobs-housing spatial characteristics comprehensively and quantitatively. The results show that this method can analyze the characteristics of jobs-housing spatial relationship quickly and finely based on the floating car data.
