A monolithic switches matrix with wide operating voltage for implantable bladder function restoration

A switches matrix with a wide operating voltage and an online re-configurable function is proposed in this paper. Such a switch addresses several challenges encountered in closed-loop implantable devices for bladder dysfunction treatment: low reliability and integration of multiple electrodes, and low flexibility of in-vivo environments. The switch includes a 16-channel single-pole triple throw switch (SAS3T16) and a 32-channel single-pole double throw switch (SAS1T16X2), which are able to support implantable electrodes, including belt-electrodes and cuff electrodes, to realize simultaneous stimulation and recording of 16 channels. The matrix is of such a large scale that it makes it easy for the path to be flexibly configured online. The combination of normal voltage CMOS and high voltage CMOS facilitates the realization of wide voltage (3.3V-40V). And static power consumption can be significantly reduced by the optimized level-shift circuit. The switch is implemented in 0.8μm CMOS process and consumes 1.2mA from a 10V working voltage. The average impedance of each path is 58.64Ω and the bandwidth is 1.8MHz. Charge injection is 53pC and channel to channel crosstalk is -13.01dB at 5 kHz.
