Hybrid Class-G Doherty Digital Power Amplifier with Deep Back-off Efficiency Enhancement

This paper presents a deep back-off efficiency enhanced switched-capacitor power amplifier (SCPA). With hybrid Doherty and Class-G technique, four peaks of power added efficiency (PAE) are achieved. Implemented in 55nm CMOS, simulation results show that this SCPA architecture obtains the peak output power of 22.73dBm at 0.9 GHz with PAE of 41.4%/41.2%/39.4%/31.3% at 0dB/2.5dB/6dB/12dB back off powers, respectively.
