A Wideband Circularly Polarized Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna

A wideband Circularly Polarized Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna with a simply structure is presented in this paper. By hiring a pair of rotationally symmetric horizontal patches functions as an electric dipole and two vertical patches as an equivalent magnetic dipole, good impedance matching and CP radiation can be obtained. The measured result shows that the impedance bandwidth for SWR ≤ 2 is as large as 97.2 % (1.29-3.73GHz), while the 3-dB axial-ratio bandwidth can reach 61.3% from 3.42GHz to 6.44GHz. The proposed antenna has a stable gain above 7 dBi in the operated band.
