Small wind turbine selection for urban environment operation

In future Smart cities, renewable energy sources (RES) based microgrids (MGs) with energy storage facilities will be the main source for powering electric vehicles (EVs) based transportation systems. A residential charging station, supplied by renewable energy sources like wind and photovoltaic is considered in the present study. The main focus is on determining which small wind turbine is more suitable to complement a PV system in an urban EV charging station. Simulations using Homer software are performed to yield the most appropriate wind turbine for the particular location.
