Vector Control Schemes for Direct Voltage Control of the Stand-Alone Brushless Doubly-Fed Induction Generator

This paper is concerned with flux and voltage vector-oriented control schemes for direct voltage control (DVC) of the stand-alone brushless doubly-fed induction generator (BDFIG) for ship shaft power generation applications. The proposed control schemes are carried out based on a simple robust phase-locked loop (PLL) method to effectively estimate the correct position for the intended orientation purpose. To enhance the system performance, a CW -current orientation approach-based hysteresis-band current controller is also used. The presented simulation results are obtained to verify the capability of the proposed vector control schemes for DVC target of the stand-alone BDFIG system. The comparative simulation results confirm the effectiveness of both the two vector-control schemes.
