The Bi-Directional Current-Fed Converter with Coupled-Inductor for ESS Application in LVDC

This paper describes a bi-directional current-fed converter with coupled-inductor capable of a battery charge/discharge operations for ESS application in unipolar LVDC distribution. In high power systems such as LVDC, the current level is high. The inductor current ripple must be satisfied with low inductance. Therefore, current-fed converter capable of current control is applied to ESS. The proposed current-fed converter in this paper is suitable for high power system because it shows great advantage in reduction of magnetic element volume with coupled-inductor.
