Chiral Interaction Between Spin-Momentum Locked Photons and Surface Electrons in Topological Insulators

We demonstrate the integration a topological insulator (TI) Bi
₂
Se
₃
with a chiral photonic waveguide. Because of optical spin-momentum locking, a directional, spin-polarized photocurrent that depends on the light propagation direction is generated on the TI surface.
