Automation of Strip Preparation Section of Furnace Welding Tube Sets

The paper concentrates on the modernization of electrical equipment in the strip preparation section of tube-rolling mill at the various diameter tubes seamless furnace welding. The paper considers the existing automation system implemented on unified block modular analog controllers. This system was designed for the D.C. drive control of the mechanisms of the strip preparation section. The rationale of the control system modernization of the electric drives of the strip preparation section is caused by the increased productivity and quality of the section and due to the outdated existing system. The paper studies the alternate design of control system modernization of the section on the basis of the Simatic programmable logic controller and the electric drives transfer to frequency-controlled asynchronous electric drives. It considers the transient characteristics of the speed control circuit and the stator current control circuit of several mechanisms. The technical solutions ensuring the drum-storage operation in various operating modes provided by the electric drive control system are also given in this paper. This paper presents the issue of the automatic control system setting of the strip loop position on the table implemented by the electric drive control system of the pinch rolls and the laser range-finder.
