Back-to-Back Optimization of Schedules for Time-Triggered Ethernet

In recent years, Time-Triggered Ethernet is booming in aerospace, vehicle and even industrial fields. TTEthernet guarantees the real-time performance of time-triggered messages through a predetermined schedule, but in some cases, the latency of event-triggered messages increases because of the pre-occupying of the channel by the time-triggered messages. In this paper, we focus on the real-time performance of event-triggered messages in TTEthernet. We introduce the conception of back-to-back optimization to reduce the transmission delay for event-triggered messages under the frequently-triggering condition through scheduling optimization. In addition, we propose a model-based algorithm for the back-to-back optimization based on Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The studied concept of back-to-back optimization is justified through comparing with the general concept of porosity optimization.
