A Novel Approach Based on Process Identification for Estimating the Time of Arrival of Electromechanical Wave

This paper describes the methodology of estimating the time of arrival which has been made viable by the convergence of the phenomenon of electromechanical wave propagation and the identification method for industrial system. First, the continuous time first-order plus time delay (FOPTD) model and the area-based method are explored, the proposed approach determines the time of arrival by taking advantage of this area-based method. Then, the available researches on electromechanical wave propagation is presented, which give the proper relationship between the time of arrival and the generator inertia constant. Next, a validation of suggested method for the FOPTD model is provided. And for the sake of solving the estimating problem that the time of arrival is in proportion to the square root of the generator inertia constant instead of itself, the novel approach is proposed. The comparison between the constant threshold method and the proposal will be carried out followed. Numerous simulations demonstrate the manner for estimating the time of arrival as having promising results.
