Photovoltaic Performance Analysis of Plasmonic Solar cell based on Ti and Pt Nanoparticles and Different Spacer Layer Thicknesses

This paper introduces two spherical metal nanoparticles Titanium and Platinum in the front surface on TiO
₂
to increase the photovoltaic performance of a thin-film plasmonic silicon solar cell using the localized surface plasmon of the nanoparticles. The photovoltaic performances of the plasmonic solar cells using the Titanium and Platinum nanoparticles were also investigated and compared with the previously reported Indium nanoparticle. It is found that the optimum thicknesses of the spacer layer are 60nm and 59.5nm for Titanium and Platinum nanoparticles respectively. The best photovoltaic performance was found for the investigated plasmonic solar cell using Titanium nanoparticles which has 12.5% reflectance, 39.61% absorbance, 32.87mA/cm
²
short circuit current density, 0.55V open circuit voltage and 14.46% efficiency.
