Load Leveling for a Diesel Generator Using an Energy Storage and Instantaneous Power Theory

This paper presents an algorithm to provide smoother load dynamic in a power system with a diesel generator as primary power source. This ability is critical for the power generation systems or micro grids where diesel generators are the dominant power sources. The proposed load pulsations smooth algorithm is intended to meet the DGU demands of the smooth load variations. The idea of the algorithm is based on the instantaneous pq-theory. Detailed simulation proves the proposed algorithm effectiveness.
