Pathological characteristics of antenna polarization in radar polarization parameter estimation

The actual antennas' polarization in space is varied obviously than theoretical results. By using this property, the polarization state of incoming EM wave can be estimated. However, the estimated performance is influence by antennas' polarization. The ill-condition analysis is adopted to evaluated antennas' polarization characteristic. In this paper, the polarization characteristics of the antenna are mathematically modeled. The simulation results show that the narrower the beam width, the smaller the rate of polarization changed, the more serious the pathology of the antenna polarization. The least squares method is used to make the estimated value of the incoming wave polarization far from the true value of the wave polarization. The polarization estimation algorithm is limited in the case of Pathological.
