Performance verification on card reader module in an ATM

Automated Teller Machine (ATM) makes bank to serve their customers even outside the banking hall. This technology emerges in our society on a continuous basis. In order to maintain continuity in that service, ATM manufacturing industries are aimed to produce high reliable products. The Card Reader is one of the significant modules in an ATM to initiate any transaction. Card Reader provides authentication to the card holder by reading its data on magnetic strip/smart chip. It operates as an intelligent device under its own control, executing and responding to requests from the parent terminal. It's a USB interface device intended for use in universal products. Performance verification of a card reader module helps to predict the reliability of an ATM. The main objective of this project is to verify the performance of the card reader module in an ATM by considering all possible failures from the field failure data. This verification ensures the industry to maintain or improve the performance of that module and ATM as well. Weibull++ software is used in this verification process which is a standard Life Data Analysis tool for reliability estimation and prediction of future failure patterns.
