Frequency regulation technologies from a single wind turbine or wind farm

The target of this work is to study the frequency regulation provided by wind turbines. First, this work reviews several existing technologies for regulating frequency by wind turbines. Next, the requirements of frequency regulation issued in various grid codes are investigated. Additionally, this work introduces the speed control zones in a wind generator so as to reveal the core of frequency-regulation by a wind turbine. Finally, this work addresses a typical frequency-regulation controller of a wind turbine, and investigates the future trend for the associated technologies about the frequency regulation by wind turbines.
