Inductor modeling with Huygens's equivalent model to estimate coupling noise

Inductors are widely used in PCB electronic systems and often act as radiators to other analog components, while are difficult to do pre-simulation to predict the coupling as the actual physical model of inductors are unavailable for commercial confidentiality. This study is to reconstruct the inductor with Huygens's equivalent model to estimate the near-field coupling in analog circuit design. The transmission scattering parameter S21 of 1 nH to micro-strip line, 3.3 uH to micro-strip line and 3.3 uH to a WIFI antenna totally three cases are calculated to validate the equivalent method. 6 dB discrepancies are observed within the frequency span compared with test result and Huygens's equivalent model simulation. The feasibility provides a possible approach to estimate the whole channel isolation including the inductors, such as coupling from transmitting impedance matching channel to receiving impedance matching channel, buck converter to antenna, etc.
