Nanostructures for smart systems

Nanostructures offer a large potential for the realization of innovative microsystems with new functionalities. Various nanomaterials are relevant for microsystem technology, including dielectric, conducting and semiconducting nanoparticles. Here, we focus on the use of semiconducting nanoparticles in thin-film systems for light emitting, load indication and energy harvesting applications. The setup and basic functionalities of the respective systems as well as some characteristics are given.
