Optimization of the window layer in CdTe solar cell

In this paper, a CdTe thin film solar cell has been proposed by numerical analysis. The numerical simulation was done by PC1D simulator. We investigated the effect of minority carrier life time, thickness and doping concentration for achieving higher open circuit voltage(Voc), better Fill factor(FF) and efficiency(η). The highest conversion efficiency obtained was 17.06% (Voc = 0.611 V, Isc = 0.396 A, FF = 70.5%) with 1 μm CdTe absorber layer and 85 nm CdS window layer. The main aim of the work is to investigate on the CdS layer parameters (thickness, minority carrier life time) to achieve higher performance of the cell. In addition, the effect of carrier life time and doping concentration variation of the CdTe layer were investigated.
