Determination of antennas characteristics based on combined beam width

Modern wireless communication systems are rapidly developing towards higher data rates and overall capacity. With the advent of fifth generation of mobile network standards (5G), wireless communication systems become more complex and advanced from the hardware perspective. In particular, antenna systems are of great interest nowadays due to the new opportunities for beamforming. One of the key advantages of beamforming is the possibility to focus transmitted signal energy into very short-range areas that allows to increase the energy and spectral efficiency of wireless system. Therefore, new methods to determine the effective parameters of antenna are of great interest nowadays. In this paper, we propose a new method of determining the effect of antenna parameters modification based on the combined beam width. Proposed method allows to simplify the determination of the effective antenna parameters for the next generation wireless systems design and development.
