Research on MPPT Algorithm Based on Variable-Step Conductance Increment Method and Pseudo-MPP Correction

Aiming at the problems that the traditional conductance increment method requires a large number of differential calculations to track the maximum power point(MPP), and the step sign is incorrectly judged when the illumination intensity suddenly decreases, an improved MPPT algorithm based on variable-step conductance increment method and pseudo-MPP correction is proposed. The variable-step conductance increment method is used to track the pseudo-MPP quickly in the first stage, then in the second stage the pseudo-MPP is corrected. In addition, by setting the current mutation threshold to judge the sign of the step size when the external conditions have strong fluctuation. The system model of photovoltaic(PV) is built on Matlab / Simulink simulation platform. Results between the improved algorithm and the traditional algorithm show that the proposed algorithm has the higher tracking accuracy, better stability and dynamic characteristics.
