Design of a low noise amplifier with inductive peaking technique

This paper describes the implementation and experimental studies of a low noise common source amplifier with various inductive peaking techniques. The effect of inductive series peaking and shunt-series peaking techniques on the bandwidth of the amplifier is experimentally investigated. A maximum bandwidth enhancement factor of 1.96 is achieved with inductive shunt-series peaking technique which results in a 3-dB bandwidth of 143 MHz. The input voltage noise density of the LNA is also measured which is found to be ~ 2.5 nV/√Hz.
