Comparison of DBR and L2-ABF routing protocols in underwater wireless sensor network

Underwater Wireless Sensor Network (UWSN) is different from the terrestrial network. Instead of radio, acoustic channel is used for communication in between the sensor nodes of UWSN. Designing and implementation of UWSN protocols are facing numerous challenges due to its unique environment and acoustic channel limitations. In this paper, two existing routing protocols L2-ABF and DBR are compared against their routing technique, implementation, performance and simulation base results. Simulation base results are carried out under end to end delay, delivery ratio and energy consumption of network by using Network Simulator (NS2) with Aqua-Sim package. By simulation results, it is proved that L2-ABF is more efficient as compared to DBR in an underwater environment.
