A data modeling method for power trading operation based on horizontal and vertical dimension integration

Data structure of power trading operation is complex and changeable. The traditional data modeling method is based on the horizontal table or the vertical table, which is unable to adapt to data explosion as the power trading reform. In this paper, the advantages and disadvantages of horizontal or vertical tables were analyzed. Then a dimension data modeling method based on the vertical and horizontal integration was proposed, i.e. the data is described by the means of the vertical dimension attribute, while the data entity is stored in the horizontal table. Using this method, attributes of power trading operation can be added or deleted dynamically without efficiency decline. Finally, the feasibility of the data modeling method proposed in this paper was validated through illustration of data retrieval, data analysis and data statistics.
