Agent-based voltage control in competitive electricity markets: A game-theoretic approach

This paper explores a game-theoretic voltage control method based on a multi-agent system (MAS) for competitive electricity markets. Without a centralized control center, the proposed method obtains voltage sensitivities via agents' local and neighborhood measurements in a fully decentralized approach. Moreover, the proposed game-theoretic voltage control strategy guarantees individual rationality for participators in competitive electricity markets, meaning that the distribution system operator provides guaranteed subsidies to participators in voltage control for their own profit maximization. The strategy converges through an iterative process to a Nash equilibrium which maximizes each participated agents' profit. Furthermore, game model with imperfect information is applied to ensure the privacy of the cost information for individuals. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed voltage control strategy has been demonstrated on a modified IEEE 33-bus system.
